“About 18 months ago I tore my hamstring. It was almost completely torn. My doctor felt that with the strength I had gained from my three years of CrossFit and Physical Therapy, I could try and heal it without surgery. That wasn’t good enough for me. As soon as I got off of crutches, I decided to start working with Emma. Initially, we worked on my upper body strength. Emma and my PT developed a training program together that has allowed me to get to almost 100%. Every workout was different, and Emma explained every move. She told me the purpose of each exercise and how it was going to heal my injury.

Not only is Emma an exceptional personal training, but she helped me regain the self confidence I had lost with the injury.”

“Emma is passionate about her craft. In the short time I have known her I have been impressed with her drive and her consistency on everything that she does. She is constantly learning and applying what she has learned. She handles her athletes with respect and care, and holds a presence that commands a room when she is instructing. I have had the pleasure working with her, and being coached by her, and can safely say she is the real deal. I can only assume she will bring the same professionalism and detail in running her own gym as she did every time she stepped into another gym to coach and lead athletes in a workout. Any athlete would be lucky to be a part of CrossFit Blue Moon and to be at the ground floor of that community. I only see bigger and better things to come from Emily and CrossFit Blue Moon in the future.”

“I am lucky to have had Emma as a coach.  Emma has a holistic coaching philosophy and treated me like a person, and not a product. She worked hard to know me as an athlete, to understand what was physically limiting me and how I could overcome it.  I learned to trust her to know when to push me and when I was doing as much as I could.

She also worked to know me as a student, to teach me how to approach fitness in a healthy way.  I came to crossfit with very few of the skills needed to perform as an athlete.  I didn’t understand how to use coaching effectively, I didn’t know what to pay attention to during workouts, and I didn’t know how to respect my body and what it is capable of and feel good about making progress.

I learned fundamental skills for how to be a mentally and physically healthy person from having Emma as a coach. I now know my body and appreciate it far more.  I learned how to think like an athlete.  I learned to trust myself, and how to trust a coach.  She taught me to take myself seriously as an athlete, to be patient with progress and enjoy the journey.

And if that’s not the best outcome possible from bringing a professional trainer into my life, I don’t know what is.”

“My husband and I were looking for something to do to get into shape, and keep us interested and excited about exercising. We contacted Emma to explore the option of having a trainer to help us to really learn how to exercise correctly and keep us motivated and accountable. It was easily the best thing we ever did!!

Emma is a fantastic trainer, she makes you feel like you CAN do it, you can be healthier and you can be fit and pretty much do anything you put your mind to. For inexperienced crossfit athletes, Emma broke down movements for us and helped us through each session step by step the whole time. She was amazing at recognizing our individual weaknesses and helping us correct them and keep working on them. At home or alone in a gym it is easy to make excuses or not push yourself, Emma was amazing at applying the perfect about of pressure and motivation, we were there to get in amazing hard workouts and we were never disappointed. She would create new workouts for each session, keeping us interested, excited and getting the most well rounded training. I have gained so much confidence in proper exercise technique by working with Emma; I feel that I have learned so much and yet there is more to learn as well as to push and challenge myself further.

Most importantly she really listened to us, what we wanted, what we were confident in, what our hesitations were, she took the time, care and effort to make our training sessions the best possible for our needs. I would recommend Emma as your trainer for anyone that is looking for hard core amazing workouts that challenge you, yet let you feel that you can do it, and you will do it, and let you learn the right way and feel like you are getting the most out of your workouts.”

“My very first introduction to CrossFit was through my boyfriend, who, after we first moved to Wauwatosa together, joined and became a member at a nearby CrossFit gym. He would consistently come home and tell me how great a workout he had and all the great people he was meeting. His results said it all! I was nervous and envious for months, feeling unmotivated and scared to try it because I had no workout regimen for myself outside of walking our dog.

Then one day, I finally decided to reach out to Emma. We had attended college together back in the day. I was her student athletic trainer, so I knew this lady was a great athlete! After reaching out to her, and explaining how nervous I was to try CrossFit, being a 5’1, measly muscled woman, she offered personal training, just one-on-one time with her.

Best decision of my life! After my first session with Emma, my butt was kicked but my ego was boosted. She continued, over the course of my sessions, to show me just how tough I was, and would not take it easy on me. She showed me how to scale workouts to work best for me, and how I could easily blend in with the big guys at the gym. I mean, she even made me do wall walks, which looking back, I would have never attempted…and I killed them!

I felt so confident after working with her, that I became a member, and everything she taught me just clicked! She is a fantastic coach, so motivating and relatable. I have never had any issues getting in contact with her, and she will work with you as best as she can. She made CrossFit so much more for me.”

“I’ve been lucky enough to Crossfit at more than 20 gyms with different coaches, and if I had to narrow down what differentiates my favorites from those that are average, it’s the coaches and the approach they have to interacting with their members. Crossfit is about challenging yourself, but what should never be a challenge is working with, and learning from the coaching staff.

Even before I was in a class with Emma as a coach, it was easy to tell that she had a great eye for fundamental movements, but more importantly, she had an even better approach to how she’d help you improve. Whether she was helping with a random mid-workout tip, or a more comprehensive recommendation, it was never awkward or intimidating. For me, it was motivating to know that someone just wanted me to be better. Even when Emma would let me know that my rep didn’t count, or my movement wasn’t perfect … her positive style motivated me to do it right the next time.

I’ve also been lucky enough to compete with both Emma and Ryan in some local competitions. Not only are they great teammates, but I always knew I had a great coach around to help make me a better competitive athlete.”
